it had been raining all morning
almost the entire week
when the clouds finally cracked
and the rain took a brief breath
she ran quickly outside
hurried across the lawn
with a big glass jar
over her head
and gathered together the light
all of the rays
that danced and jumped and bounced
everything she could get
so that she might use it later
when the rain forced her
to sit still
inside
